CREATIVE DIRECTOR
REPORTS TO:
CEO & Chief of Staff
SUMMARY:
A recognized creative design leader providing clear vision and direction for innovative and responsive design. Working with clients and project teams, elevates design in all disciplines and markets.
Develops a culture of design excellence throughout the creative team. In collaboration with the company leadership team, builds on the successes of SWTCH to secure the future as a top content producer that vies for the most significant work. Comfortable as a public face of SWTCH and assists in winning work for the firm. Develops and maintains strong client relationships.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Leadership
Responsible for the design quality of all work developed by the creative department split into onshore and offshore teams.
Responsible for promoting and maintaining SWTCH’s design reputation
Effectively listens and responds to client goals and offers excellent solutions and service to secure contracts.
Leads design teams and idea discussions, providing overall direction to ensure high-quality design.
Management
Conducts research and seeks thorough understanding of client needs for project requirements and design solution opportunities.
Engages clients in explorations that respectfully challenge their understanding of appropriate design solutions.
Communicates design intent in a clear and compelling way.
Assists in the preparation and delivery of design presentations to clients and inspires the SWTCH creative team to achieve design goals.
Works closely with project teams with respect to budget and schedule constraints.
Leads project design reviews and builds a positive design culture.
Serves as project designer on selected projects; conceive and execute design, being mindful of clients’ needs, requirements, budget, schedule, and any other related issues.
Provide financial, production and related reports on an ongoing basis.
Staff Development
Mentors and coaches developing talent.
Participates in staff evaluations, compensation decision-making and allocation of department resources.
Participates in interviews and recruiting of professional staff.
Encourages staff exploration and innovation to achieve project design excellence and continual improvement.
Job requirements
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in graphic design, fine arts, visual communication, typography, marketing or a related subject.
A minimum of 10 years experience. Proven experience as a creative director, with at least 5 years as a lead project designer or design director.
Have in depth knowledge of brand development, design, video production, website functionality, and SEO.
Skilled in the use of platforms such as InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Figma, Adobe XD.
Ability to lead and manage the creative team with a collaborative leadership style which puts value on relationships, both internal and external.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to present information concisely and accurately, with keen attention to detail
Creative thinker.
Ability to lead, inspire, and bring conceptual ideas to fruition through creative and analytical exercise
Ability to work within a project management software such as Airtable, Jira
Strong design sensibilities, from high-level strategic direction down to the smallest details
Preferred skills
Masters degree in marketing, graphic design, fine arts, visual communication, typography or a related subject.
Published and/or award winning projects.
